Limerick is a four-generation family kennel built on patience, integrity, and a deep love of the breeds that have touched our lives. What began in 1971 with Janet Souza's fascination with the Irish Wolfhound's calm demeanor and commanding size has grown, over more than fifty years, into a highly respected Wolfhound breeding program now carried forward by Linda's daughter, Jamie Souza Bartlett and granddaughter, Tatum Bartlett. Over the years, Jamie also bred Whippets under the Limerick prefix, and we have now added PBGV’s to our clan.

Our name comes from our very first Wolfhound, Ch. Roaree of Limerick, an Irish import bitch registered in Ireland and named for her birthplace in Limerick County. Roaree became our foundation, and to this day, every Irish Wolfhound we have bred traces back to her.

We have always believed that fewer, better-bred puppies serve this breed far better than volume ever could. Over fifty years we've produced just sixteen homebred Irish Wolfhound litters and 112 puppies — with more than fifty champions among them. Our dogs have won numerous Specialties, All Breed Best In Shows and have consistently been at the top of show statistics over the past 25 years. In 2013 the AKC recognized us as the Hound Group Breeders of the Year.

Today, Limerick Irish Wolfhounds calls Jackson, Wyoming home, where our dogs thrive in the abundant space and cold mountain air. We remain committed to mentoring the next generation of breeders and exhibitors, sharing what four generations of this family have learned about raising, showing, and caring for this remarkable breed.
