THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2012 AT LIMERICK – ALL WE CAN SAY IS “WOW”
The first half of 2012 has been incredible for the dogs in our Limerick family. We started off the first weekend of the New Year at the Inland Empire Hound Association where Tate’s daughter now GCh. Gryffindor’s Wild Rose O’Starry Glen was awarded Best of Breed with our own GCh. Limerick Frosty The Showman going Best of Breed the next two days at both the Kennel Club of Palm Springs all breed shows in large wolfhound entries.
Frost was not shown again until the beginning of March where he headed out to Scottsdale, Arizona for three all breed shows and was honored with Best of Breed all three days. Towards the end of March, Frost garnered two more nice best of breed wins in Vallejo, California which catapulted him into the position of Number One Irish Wolfhound in the country in breed competition. He accomplished this with only seven best of breed wins.
At the beginning of April, Tate’s daughter , Ch. Ard Rhi’s Anyka was Best of Opposite Sex at the Potomac Valley Irish Wolfhound Club in Bel Air, Maryland and Tate’s young grandson was Winners Dog at the same specialty from the 9-12 puppy dog class.   In mid April, Frost continued his winning ways at the Western Hound Association of Southern California where he won Best of Breed both days and garnered a Group 3 under Juan Carlos Vasconcellos from Paraguay.  We were told Frost was the “talk at ringside” by many of the international judges present. Saturday’s breed judge from Australia, Sharron Taylor, posted to her FaceBook page that Frost was one of the nicest wolfhounds she had ever seen.
At the beginning of May we made the long drive with GCh. Limerick Frosty The Showman to the Irish Wolfhound Club of America National Specialty at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Missouri. We were honored to have Frost awarded Select Dog by breeder judge, Jacqueline Carswell. Also, another Tate grandson, Ch. Pinehurst Garret, was Best of Opposite Sex and a Tate granddaughter, Dun Myrica Glitter of Eagle, was Winners Bitch. It was a very personally rewarding National for our Limerick family of dogs.
After only 3 days home from the National in Missouri, we hit the road again for Peace Arch Park in western Canada for the Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada BC Specialty. To our pure delight, Frost was awarded Best of Breed from the Bred By Exhibitor class under breeder judge Mrs. Pat Pask from Wales. The drive home was a snap J
After 7,000 miles of driving in the month of May, we decided to stick close to home for the month of June. Frost attended the four Woofstock shows in Vallejo, California and came home with two lovely Best of Breed wins and two group placements in top California competition. Our greatest excitement, however, came on June 27th when three beautiful puppies (one male and two females) were born to Australian Ch. Glenfels Finola sired by our GCh. Limerick Frosty The Showman. Finola is a beautifully shaped wheaten bitch and is the Number One Irish Wolfhound in Australia in 2012. She is bred and owned by Sarah Baker.
At the end of June, our GCh. Limerick Frosty The Showman still remains the Number One Irish Wolfhound in the nation in the breed ring.
SO FAR 2012 HAS BEEN EXCITING, REWARDING AND JUST PLAIN FUN FOR OUR LIMERICK FAMILY!!!
